Summary

4。5 These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan was surprisingly phenomenal。 If the Cruel Prince and A Court of Thrones and Roses had a baby-- These Hollow Vows is their YA love child。 Action packed, faeries, deceptions, kings & queens, fire magic, twisting romance and so much more。I truly enjoyed this book + yes, it wasn't perfect but overall, I could definitely reread in the future。 4。5 These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan was surprisingly phenomenal。 If the Cruel Prince and A Court of Thrones and Roses had a baby-- These Hollow Vows is their YA love child。 Action packed, faeries, deceptions, kings & queens, fire magic, twisting romance and so much more。I truly enjoyed this book + yes, it wasn't perfect but overall, I could definitely reread in the future。 。。。more

I was worried this book would mirror ACOTAR too much since it was recommended for people who like the series but, I was wrong。 This book was so much better than I ever expected。 A+

Girlllll!! I did not expect this book to be this good! Abriella is a badass! I am living for that scene with the throne。 The book began with Cinderella vibes if Cinderella had a sister。 She’s poor and she’s cleaning and doing tasks for (not) her stepmom and evil stepsisters (they are unrelated here)。 Her sister gets sold to the fae lands to pay a debt and Abriella then goes on a journey to the fae lands to bring her back。 And what a journey! I don’t know who to believe anymore! These guys are the best one moment and the worst the next。 I am shook with that ending - I need answers! And of course ya girl Brie ended book one like a badass but damn my heart is in pain for her。 。。。more

Man, this took me a while to finish。 YA books can be such a hit or miss, and I've been struggling to find some good ones lately。 I finally picked this up at the library and I have to say, it's not a bad book。 Just took me a really long time to get into。 I have to admit though, I really enjoyed the ending。 Revenge, betrayal, a broken heart? Sounds like a good time! I would definitely read the second one, just to know where the story goes。 Man, this took me a while to finish。 YA books can be such a hit or miss, and I've been struggling to find some good ones lately。 I finally picked this up at the library and I have to say, it's not a bad book。 Just took me a really long time to get into。 I have to admit though, I really enjoyed the ending。 Revenge, betrayal, a broken heart?

Overall good concept and good ideas。 Totally saw the ending coming a mile away。 Not a twist, except Sebastian was actually nicer than I thought and less devious, which is annoying since I’m fairly certain she’s going to end up with Finn by the end of the next book。 Absolutely shocked at how she was with her sister。 Hardly concerned most of the time。

The book was a quick read and very predictable。 The love triangle was interesting。 At the end, there was a surprising plot twist, which was nicely told in advance, so that the surprise at the end did not leave a too bitter taste in the book。Brie was the main character of the book, but she was too bland for my taste。 I enjoyed Bash and Finn's characters more。 The book was a quick read and very predictable。 The love triangle was interesting。 At the end, there was a surprising plot twist, which was nicely told in advance, so that the surprise at the end did not leave a too bitter taste in the book。Brie was the main character of the book, but she was too bland for my taste。 I enjoyed Bash and Finn's characters more。 。。。more

I really don’t like it when real world terms are put into fantasy stories and in this book, words like “compound interest” and “stranger danger” and “ice cream” just gave me the ick。 I also HATE love triangles。 Abriella, who is the main character in this book gave me “not like other girls” energy in a lot of instances。 Also, a good 70% of Finn and his friends felt very SJM-esque。 Dark hair, shadow powers, rules the court of the moon and TATTOOS? Rhysand, what are you doing here?😂。 I know that th I really don’t like it when real world terms are put into fantasy stories and in this book, words like “compound interest” and “stranger danger” and “ice cream” just gave me the ick。 I also HATE love triangles。 Abriella, who is the main character in this book gave me “not like other girls” energy in a lot of instances。 Also, a good 70% of Finn and his friends felt very SJM-esque。 Dark hair, shadow powers, rules the court of the moon and TATTOOS? This book was all over the place and the characters were mid at best。 The writing was fine。 It was as if 14 year old me was trying to write a novel but I was in an angsty mood。 It just wasn't a style of writing that I enjoyed。 I felt like there was too much focus on unnecessary things (like the MC's hatred of dresses) and because of that, it made the book extremelyyyyyyy slow。It felt like the author tried so hard to make the MC “not like other girls”。 She hated the fae。 She had firey red hair。 S This book was all over the place and the characters were mid at best。 The writing was fine。 It was as if 14 year old me was trying to write a novel but I was in an angsty mood。 It just wasn't a style of writing that I enjoyed。 I felt like there was too much focus on unnecessary things (like the MC's hatred of dresses) and because of that, it made the book extremelyyyyyyy slow。It felt like the author tried so hard to make the MC “not like other girls”。 She hated the fae。 She had firey red hair。 She provided for her sister。 She values family over boys。 She’s a thief。 And worst of all。。。she hates dresses。 Literally, she mentions how much she hates dresses every time she gets dressed and it was just stupid。 I genuinely think that there wasn't a scene where the MC had to change where she didn't mention her vendetta against dresses。 The MC wasn't the brightest either。 She was actually quite dumb and it was just so frustrating and annoying how she dealt with conflict。 She just made stupid irrational decisions over and over again。The love triangle was unbearable。 I don't think it would be terrible if there had been more character development from the two love interests (and if they weren't adults)。 They were supposed to be like the opposite of each other like dark haired bad boy versus light haired good guy。 One was the typical "misunderstood" bad boy and the other one was the "lovable" best friend (I'm gaging it's so cliche)。 but they both just ended up being static and bland characters。The next thing I had a problem with (and I haven't seen anyone talk about this which I find odd) was that there was an unnecessary age difference between the MC and both of the love interests。 The MC is 17 years old and then 150 pages in you find out that one of the love interests is 21 years old(and eventually the other one because he's like +500 years old)。 The MC has had a crush on this man for 2 years (yes two years she was 15 he was 19)。 Like, excuse me? The author literally could have made her a few months older and she would have been 18 but no。 Why did she have to be a minor? Or she could have made him 18。 It literally wouldn't have changed anything about the plot。。。at all。 And it would have made the 2 year crush less disturbing。 And it wasn't so much the fact the MC had a crush on an older man when she was 15 (I feel like we all have found someone older attractive and had a silly little crush) but it was that the 19 year old。。。had a crush。。。on the 15 year old。 I just don't understand it。I did however enjoy the plot twist in the end。 Looking back there was definitely foreshadowing but it wasn’t so obvious that I would have guessed what was going to happen which was great。 And when I say the conflict wasn’t handled well I mean it was kind of dissolved in like 30 seconds but then at the end of the book it turns out it wasn’t really which was fine but it could have been better。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This felt like I was reading a book report about a fanfic that was based on ACOTAR with bits of Cruel Prince thrown in。While I did enjoy some parts of the book (and am currently reading the second), it feels like there was no original thoughts throughout the entire book。First we have the mortal girl (Feyre) that hates FAE and would do anything for her family。 But she's not just another normal girl, she doesn't like dresses and would never want to be queen。 Then we have the golden prince (Tamlin) This felt like I was reading a book report about a fanfic that was based on ACOTAR with bits of Cruel Prince thrown in。While I did enjoy some parts of the book (and am currently reading the second), it feels like there was no original thoughts throughout the entire book。First we have the mortal girl (Feyre) that hates FAE and would do anything for her family。 But she's not just another normal girl, she doesn't like dresses and would never want to be queen。 Then we have the golden prince (Tamlin) with long blonde hair who just wants to protect her。 And where would we be without our dark hair, bad boy prince from the evil court (Rhysand)。The plot was predictable and overused。 At no point was there ever any mystery of what was going to happen。 Brie was told over and over she was special and her burn mark just happened to be a sun and moon shape and she never thought that was weird? She said she didn't want to be bonded the entire book and the last twenty pages she's all of a sudden excited and can't wait? Completely out of character。Too much was being told to us instead of shown, and the scenes felt short and abrupt。Overall I get why people said it's like ACOTAR based on the story line, but the entire book felt like a cheaper version of it。 。。。more

Really enjoyed the secrets, the plotting, the intrigue, and yes, I enjoyed the love triangle。 It felt mysterious, exciting, and a little dark。 It did feel a little repetitive at times。 The MC mulls over her understanding of her situation throughout the story (understandably) but sometimes it felt like overkill。I listened to the audio version and thought it was well performed。
